I may have mentioned last week that I've recently started a new job. It's nice, I'm enjoying having a daily routine and certainly enjoying the fattening of my little wallet, but I do get yelled at a lot.
Not by my boss, not by my co-workers, but by the customers. Sometimes it's justified, sometimes not so much. But it's all in a days work I guess.
Anyway, in order to combat the yelly-workday-blues, I've devised a list of happy-making activities that I thought I might share with you...
1. Get your feet above your head. Do a handstand (if you can). Hand from a bar. Hell, just lay in the grass and stick your legs up! Sounds simple, I know, but it truly is great. Three's something oddly comforting about being upside down.
2. Have a bath. I really don't feel that this one begs explnation. Just make sure it involves lavendar oil and epsom salts.
3. Paint your nails. With the crazy number of pretty
nail tutorials popping up all around the web at the moment it's
impossible not to be inspired, and looking at happy nails in the middle
of a tough day can be a sweet little pick me up.
4. Do something you've been putting off. Hang those
pictures. Fix that dress. Book that appointment. It doesn't matte why
you've beet putting it off, you'll feel better once it's done!
5. Cuddle something fluffy. Did you know that people with pets live longer? They do. Makes sense I suppose, getting to cuddle a happy little something that loves you unconditionally every day is a special thing.
6. Wear pretty knickers. It doesn't matter that no one else will see them, it'll make you feel like a million bucks. Trust me.
7. Watch 10 Things I Hate About You. Or Bring It On. Or Legally Blonde. Because it will make you feel nostalgic and happy.
8. Do something you haven't done since you were a kid. Run around in circles until you feel dizzy. Jump on a trampoline. Swing on a swing. Ever noticed how kids have this brilliant ability to lose themselves on one simple activity to the point where the rest of the world is irrelevant? Remember how to do that.
9. Bake something colourful. Because everybody knows that a ranbow cake tastes better than one that's not.
10. Hang out with your best friend. Or your mum. Or your sister. Some of my favourite memories are of eating too much cheese and watching Mean Girls with Linda, my besty, mum cuddles when I'm feeling crappy, and laughing at stupid things with my sisters. Go get an instant pick me up from the people who know you best.
