Okay, "should" may be a bit of a stretch, but it has a better ring to it that "might perhaps like to know".
Point is, when I first told friends that I was planning to get me a lil' bunny friend, a common response was "But they don't do anything. They don't have personalities".
Not true my friends. Not true in the slightest. For my sweet little Danger has more personality than I could ever have expected, and here are a few of her little "quirks" that suprise and melt my heart every day:
1. She grunts. And I meant GRUNTS. Whenever she's the slightest bit irritaed she turns into a little fluffy piggy. It's much cuter than it sounds.
2. She licks like crazy. Her favourite thing to lick is the palm of my hand, and has been known to grunt and stomp her foot if my hand is the wrong side up. Her secong favourite place to lick is my chin, which Miss Cate thinks is gross.
3. Raisins make bunny nuts. If she can even smell one (and she can smell them from a mile away) she is a bunny posessed until said raisin is safe in her belly.
4. She has a friend. And by friend I mean a stuffed toy bunny that she will groom for hours on end. It's sweet, if a little strange.
5. She insists on give and take. Whilst Danger loves to lick, it is always perfectly balanced by pats.
6. She wants my bed. She communicates this by leavig little "gifts" on in ever chance she can.
7. She has the fluffiest little belly. She's a bunny, so yes, she's fluffy, but there's something special about how bright white her little belly is.
8. She's a speed demon. Have you ever seen a bunny in a good mood? When little Danger is happy she runsy crazy fast laps around the room, and under the bed, doing crazy little twisty jumps as she goes. Occassionally she'll misjudge a turn and whack her bunny bottom on a cupboard. Silly bunny.
9. She tickles my toes while I work. My laptop recently took a leave of absence which meant that I had to get off my comfy bed a do my blogging and such at the desktop, The silver lining of this is that little miss likes to hand out under the desk and will nudge and tickle my feet while I work. It's impossible not to be distracted by her fluffy little nose!
10. She loves cuddles. Sometimes. My favourite time is when she lies on my belly while I unwind and watch Community (or similar). We can snuggle for ages.
Don't get me wrong, bunnies can be hard work, and it's a misconception that they're good pets for kids. Unlike a puppy they can be temperamental and make you work hard for their affection, but it's work it in the end to see the little thing up on it's hind legs, little arms together, begging for attention. I get all gooey just thinking about it!
